Back from Hamburg

Sat May 9, 2009, 6:35 AM
Hi Guys :) ,
Oh god I can't write correctly anymore because I wasn't using a pen for like a week.

I guess I made many grammar mistakes, so pardon me, I want to tell you everything but I don't wanna spend 5 hours in front of the computer

I was in Hamburg and this is sort of a travel journal

Of course I made pictures, but not as many as I wanted to because we were so busy. Hamburg is beautiful, one of the most beautiful cities in Germany in my opinion.

Hostel
Our hostel was really cool. It's called meininger hostel and it was opened in April, so everything was really nice and modern there. If you need a clean and cheap stay in Hamburg (it's also located in other cities), go there.
Sometimes the lift didn't work, so I had to drag my 20 kg luggage to the 6th level -.-

Reeperbahn
If you're in Hamburg you have to visit this place.
It's the red light district of Hamburg and it's really famous here in Germany.

wikipedia link

It's like full of sex shops and stuff :D We went there every evening and drank something in the bars and the discos are nice as well.

The highlight on the Reeperbahn was the dollhouse.
It's a famous stripclub and it was sooo cool inside. The strippers weren't tacky, as you expect them to be, but the guy was gross. One classmate called him 'Mr Anabolica 2009'
You can buy a stripper for 15 minutes and then he will strip for you (they get naked completely). We even saw Olivia Jones. He or She is a Transvestite and you always see her or him on TV.

Musical
We went to Tarzan and it was amazing ! The stage was beautiful and the characters were great. They sang the songs from Phil Collins but on German. I can only recommend visiting this musical.

harbor
On Friday (the day we went home) the harbor feast started. The harbor of Hamburg is huge, and the 3rd biggest harbor of Europe. We saw the Speicherstadt. That are houses that are placed at the river. They were used as warehouses in the past.

We saw the Queen Mary 2 as well.

Hamburg
I love the architecture of Hamburg. The city burned down completely in 1860, they had to build everything up again, so all the buildings have this late 19th century feel to them and I love this time period.
Our tour guide said that the architect tried to copy new york, you could really see that.
The people are really nice and they couldn't understand us because the talk differently and they have this sailor accent.

Hagenbeck Aquarium
That's the best Aquarium in Hamburg. It was rebuild in 2007, so it looks very nice and there are a lot of animals. The highlight was the shark pool (can you say shark pool ?!) It's a huge window and you can sit in front of it and watch the sharks swim around. Better than watching a movie ;) .
I never went to sea life but my friends who went there said the Aquarium was 1000 times better than sea life.

So all in all it was pretty cool. We had some difficulties in our class, but I guess you don't wanna hear about that.
It was exhausting cause we walked around all day long and I slept 4 hours every night, but it was worth it.
